Captain M J L (Michael) Freeman Royal Navy
Michael Freeman was a Communicator whose appointments as a Captain included Chief Naval Signals Officer and Director of Naval Physical Training and Sport. Prior to his promotion to Captain in 1974, he had served as the Training Commander at HMS MERCURY and Executive Officer of HMS RALEIGH. He was born in 1928 and entered BRNC in 1942. As a junior officer he served in Mountbatten’s flagship in the Mediterranean, as the Signals Officer of the Royal Yacht BRITANNIA and in MTBs. His final appointment in the Service was in Naples, where he served in the rank/appointment of Commodore.
