Captain Neville Ross Win RNZN

Neville Win joined the RNZN in 1947 as a Boy Seaman. He was commissioned in 1956 after Officer Training in the UK. After 18 month of Specialist Courses he returned to NZ and served in various ships. In 1962 he did the Long Navigation and Direction Course followed by two years exchange service. During his exchange service he served in the Persian Gulf in a Minesweeper Squadron and in HMS Whitby. He commanded HMNZS Taranaki in 1970 followed by HMNZS Waikato for two years. He was the RNZN Liaison Officer in Canberra between 1973 and 1977. He retired in 1982 to become the Manager of the Wellington Golf. I recall dropping into his office one afternoon to find him stuffing subscription renewal forms into envelopes lamenting the lack of a Leading Writer.
