Captain Peter James Edward Baldwin RNZN

Peter joined the RCN in 1961 and was promoted Sub Lieutenant in 1963. He undertook flying training in 1966 and was awarded his Wings in 1967. He served in aviation appointments in HMCS’s Bonaventure, Fraser and Assiniboine.He joined the RNZN on 1 November 1972. He served in HMNZS’s Waikato, Canterbury and Monowai as Flight Commander. He was Staff Officer Naval Operations NZ Forces SEA in 1978 in Singapore and was XO of HMNZS Otago between 1981 and 1983. He took command of HMNZS Waikato in 1984. Promoted Captain in 1990 his last posting was Director Defence Communications. He retired in 1993.In retirement he worked in Holland for a company manufacturing Gas Meters. He then retired to Turangi in the Central North Island of New Zealand enjoying fishing and skiing.
