Commander David HOSKING Royal Navy
David was a Special Entry member of my term. He left the Service as a Sub to go to Sheffield University – something unusual in those days – but after a year came back to the Service, having found that the grass wasn’t as green as it looked from outside. I think he found that the attitude of students clashe with the ideas he’d already inherited from his three years or so in the Navy. At the end of his career, he became OMobS in the Naval Secretary’s department, and as such was of enormous help to me when I took over as Sec-Treas. It was he who paved the way for us to be able to use NavSec’s data to find members who had ‘gone missing.
