Commodore Neil MacEacharn Royal Navy

Neil was a key figure in my Naval Career – he persuaded me to join! An old boy of my school, I met with him and he regailed many dits of his life in the service and then got me to sea for 5 days onboard HMS Zulu (I even went to Ganges to join the ship from Harwich!). He later became Commodore Clyde and was in charge during the Civil Service strikes in the early 80’s. I was in a diesel boat transferring torpedoes from one place to another – strike breaking – so that other submarines could get their full load outs.
