Director of Naval Construction Keith Foulger RCNC
Keith Foulger failed the eye test for the RN and instead joined the Royal Naval Corps of Constructors. In 1950-54 he was involved in experiments in the hydrogen-peroxide powered submarine EXPLORER and in the design of the diesel-powered Porpoise class of submarines. Subsequently involved in the design of nuclear submarines from DREADNOUGHT onward and rose to become Director of Naval Construction (1983-85). In retirement Foulger was chief naval architect for HMS Victory, overseeing her restoration and repair.
