LCDR David Alexander Innes, RAN, Rtd.

Joined as a sailor (REM) and served in the Korean War (Sydney). Later accepted for aircrew training and transferred from a pilot course to qualify as an observor. Transferred from the SL to the GL stream later. Also served in FESR during Malayan Emergency, Vietnam and possibly during the Indonesian Confrontation. In short, after getting his seaman qualifications. Had a period in Canberra doing staff jobs. Lived up the road from me in the ACT mid seventies but only rarely saw him. Suffered a personal tragedy about 40 years ago. His daughter murdered her mother (his wife) in a domestic incident. He since remarried. Of short height he was painfully shy but well regarded by his peers.

The same paper edition notified the death of Lieutenant Sir Harold Knight,  KBE, DSC, RANVR, a former Governor of the Reserve Bank. I attempted an extensive obituary which was rejected for posting – being timed out or not logged in. I will leave it to another member with more time on their hands to follow up if they feel it is still of interest to anybody.
