Lieutenant Albert Edward Pryke (‘Ted’) BRIGGS MBE Royal Navy

He was the last survivor from the sinking of the battle-cruiser ‘Hood’, ssunk by the ‘Bismarck’ in the Denmark Strait, 24 May, 1941. Ted Briggs, then 18, and a Signal Boy, survived in the water for some three hours before being picked up. He went on to become a Lieutenant (SD)(C), in charge of Whitehall W/T, and earned an MBE
