Lieutenant Commander David Oliver DYKES Royal Navy

Usually known as ‘Dickie’ Dykes, I think. He was one of the junior Divisional officers in ‘Devonshire’ back in 1952 – Maintop Division. One at least of our regular obit readers will have memories of him, as a cadet in that division. There is no doubt that our training officers in the trainng cruiser had an enormous influence on our future naval careers.
