Lieutenant Commander Richard Baker OBE, RD

Better known as the former BBC newsreader and TV presenter, Richard Baker died yesterday at the ge of 93. He served on Russian Convoys during the 39-45 war and remained a dedicated naval reservist until finally retiring on grounds of age in the late 60s/early 70s.He also wrote two naval biographies. The first was of Vice Admiral Sir Gilbert (Monkey) Stephenson called "The Terror of Tobermory", the other of the former First Sea Lord, Admiral of the Fleet Sir Michael Le Fanu called "Dry Ginger".
