Lieutenant Ian Ashton Shuttleworth Royal Navy

Ian died aged 71 after a battle with cancer.  He and I served in the last commission of the old DARING.  He was the Corro and I was navigating.  He was one of my two Best Men when I married in Cape Town.  He left DARING to go off to flying training but towards the end of that (or maybe just after) he was in a car crash and spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair.  He was nvolved with sailing for the disabled over many years.  I last saw him being pushed in his wheelchair by his identical twin Richard at the funeral of the wife of another, civilian, for whom he had been Best Man.
