Lieutenant Ian Milne Royal Navy

Ian joined the RN in 1965 as an aviator and flew fixed wing (Buccaneers) for his career.

Upon leaving the service he took up a career in civil aviation. He joined Airbus Industries and, drawing upon his extensive experience as a pilot, became an instructor, mentoring aircrew from all over the world.

Ian had been diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2010 and finally succumbed to his illness in March 2012, near Toulouse, which had been his home for many years. He leaves a wife, Vicki, and two sons from an earlier marriage.

Such was the regard he was held in and the contribution he made to others, that his funeral was delayed to enable over a hundred pilots and other aircrew from all over the world to gather and celebrate his lifetime achievement.
