Lieutenant John BEATTIE Royal Navy
John qualified as a TAS Officer in 1954, but was invalided out in 1958 with, if I remember aright, eye problems, and went to work for Racal, largely on equipment for the RN. He maintained a close contact with the RN for the remainder of his life, and published in 2010 The Churchill Scheme – All You Ever Wanted to Know about the Special Entry officers’ entry scheme, which ran from 1913 to 1955. He was a contributor to the Wardroom Bar, under the pseudonym ‘Longbreak’.
The funeral will be private, but a memorial service will be held on Wednesday 9 July at 2.30 pm at St. Andrew’s Church, Cobham, Surrey.
