Lieutenant The Hon. Simon Warrender DSC RNVR
Born 11 August, 1922, the second son of Victor Warrender, the first baron Bruntisfield. Settled in Australia after the war and married into the Melbourne establishment, to Pamela Myer, in 1950. First member of the Melbourne Club to resign in protest when his club refused the nomination of his wife’s realtive, Baillieu, seemingly on the grounds of his Jewish heritage. Warrender was the great-great-grandson of the seventh Earl of Shatfsbury who, as an MP. fought for social reform and the abolition of child slavery in the coal mines. Warrender joined initially as an ordinary seaman before being later commissioned. HMS Savage in WWII.
