Lieutenant Vincent Barry (‘Vince ‘) Fazio RAN
Shipwright Lieutenant Vincent Barry Fazio died yesterday (24 July) aged 86.His death was reported in the SMH today, Saturday 25 July. Curiously his younger brother, Dr Victor Fazio, a Vietnam veteran, also died recently and his obituary appeared in the SMH this week. Vince was the son of the late Victor Warren Fazio, a WWII Petty Officer, who was awarded the DSM in 1945, for three years service in HMAS Kalgoorlie operating between Australia and the Philippines. I believe Vince was a Korean veteran. Active in some of the ship associations and he may have written a book. Last saw him a decade ago at a Melbourne reunion at the Bell’s Hotel in Sydney. A few years later, there was an affray in the pub between some Islanders and the publican. One of the owners was decked and killed by a flying bar stool. Vince was a fine person and will be missed by all
