Commodore Philip Mulcare Royal Australian Navy

1. IT IS WITH DEEP SADNESS THAT I ADVISE THE PASSING OF COMMODORE PHILIP MICHAEL MULCARE, RAN RTD ON 29 MAR 24 AT THE AGE OF 85.

2. PHILIP MULCARE WAS BORN IN MONTO, QLD ON 08 JUN 38 AND JOINED THE ROYAL AUSTRALIAN NAVY ON 25 JAN 54 AS A CADET MIDSHIPMAN.

3. AFTER GRADUATING FROM THE ROYAL AUSTRALIAN NAVAL COLLEGE HE QUALIFIED AS A SUPPLY OFFICER AND UNDERTOOK TRAINING AT SEA AND ASHORE IN THE UK AND AUSTRALIA, ACHIEVING SUPPLY CHARGE QUALIFICATION ON 10 JAN 65.

4. HE SAW ACTIVE SERVICE IN BOTH VIETNAM AND MALAYSIA, RECEIVING THE AUSTRALIAN ACTIVE SERVICE MEDAL (AASM) 1945-75 AS WELL AS THE AUSTRALIAN SERVICE MEDAL (ASM) 1945-75 WITH CLASP FESR. HE WAS ALSO AWARDED THE VIETNAM LOGISTIC AND SUPPORT MEDAL AND THE GENERAL SERVICE MEDAL 1962 WITH CLASP MALAY PENINSULAR AND CLASP BORNEO

5. HE WAS PROMOTED TO CDRE IN NOV 86 AND SERVED AS DIRECTOR GENERAL NAVAL MANPOWER PRIOR TO MOVING TO THE OFFICE OF THE DEPUTY CHIEF OF NAVAL STAFF IN DEC 90 AND TRANSFERRING TO THE ROYAL AUSTRALIAN NAVAL EMERGENCY RESERVE (RANEM) IN FEB 91.

7. SINCE RETIRING FROM THE RAN IN JUN 98, HE SERVED AS THE PRESIDENT OF CANBERRA LEGACY FROM 1995 – 1996 AND SERVED AS THE SENIOR RAN MILITARY RESEARCHER WITH WRITEWAY RESEARCH SERVICE FROM 2000 – 2015.

8. CDRE MULCARE’S FUNERAL WILL BE HELD AT ST PAUL’S ANGLICAN CHURCH, MANUKA ON MON 08 APR 24 AT 1330. SERVICE DRESS FOR ATTENDEES IS S2. THE FAMILY HAVE REQUESTED DONATIONS TO LEGACY IN LIEU OF FLORAL TRIBUTES.
