Rear-Admiral E.N. (‘Nico’) POLAND CB, CBE
Nico came from an old Naval family: his father was a Royal Marine, (RMLI), killed during WW 1. He served in MTBs at the beginning of WW 2
When he left the Service in 1968, he went into the business of the rehabilitation of offenders.
But his major interest in the late 1980s was the writing of the story of the Torpedo Branch, which appeared in 1992 as The Torpedomen. As originally written, this really was, very literally, a ‘magnum opus’, and had to be severely edited before it could be published.
