Rear Admiral Fred W. Crickard

Fred Crickard attended Royal Roads Military College 1948-50 before joining the RCN in which he served for 35 years before retiring as a Rear Admiral in 1985. In retirement he made a significant contribution to Canadian maritime studies and to the development of Canadian maritime strategy through his relationship with the Centre for Foreign Policy Studies at Dalhousie University in Halifax. He was a President of the Naval Officers’ Association of Canada, one time editor-in-chief of the ‘Niobe Papers’ and the author of many papers and articles. Fred was generous in his help and support for many new in the field of maritime strategy and a great friend to many.
