Rear Admiral George Stephen (‘Steve’) Morrison Bronze Star

Little known association with RN. Said to have met Queen Elizabeth. Flew Hellcats in the Pacific in the last year of WWII. Commanded USS Bon Homme Richard (“Bonnie Dick”). On station during the Tonkin Gulf incident of 1964. At one stage, youngest to be promoted to flag rank – until eclipsed by El Zumwalt of Z-grams. Critical of the official response to the Israeli attack on USS Liberty in the Med during the 6 day war of 1967. Most famously known as the father of rock star rebel Jim Morrison of the Doors.
