Rear-Admiral Michael Lawrence Stacey CB
Served in the cruiser Hawkins in the Indian Ocean and at the Normandy landings; in the destroyer Meteor on Arctic convoys; and in the British Pacific Fleet in the destroyers Rotherham and Cambrian.
He commanded several fast patrol boats and became senior officer of the 1st Fast Patrol Boat Squadron. Later he commanded HM Ships Blackpool (1960-62), Andromeda (1968-70), and Tiger (1973-75).
His seagoing alternated with staff appointments which included the JSSC in 1966, Chief Staff Officer to the Admiral Commanding Reserves (1966-68) and a deputy to the Director of Naval Air Warfare from 1970 to 1973. In 1975-76 he was Assistant Chief of Naval Staff (Policy). He ended his career as Flag Officer Gibraltar 1976-78, and was appointed CB in 1978
