Rear Admiral Steve Ritchie CB DSC

Died peacefully at home surrounded by his family.  Steve was 97 and the nineteenth Hydrographer of the Navy, from January 1966 to February 1971.  Steve went to sea as a cadet in 1932 and after thirty-five years as a hydrographic specialist retired as Hydrographer of the Navy in 1971.  In 1972, he was elected President of the Directing Committee of the International Hydrographic Bureau (IHB) and served for ten years in Monaco.
