Superintendent Donald Hallworth
Former senior officer in the now defunct Naval Dockyard Police branch of the RAN. Believed to be onboard HMAS Sydney during the sinking of the Italian cruiser Bartolomeo Colleoni in the Mediterranean in 1940. Said that all the gun crews did a good job. So much so, that the allocation of several DSM awards was drawn by straws. A kind, wise and firm man who was respected for his ability to lead and bring out the best in his juniors and seniors. His annual NDP Christmas Party in Sydney was legendary. Everyone scored a prize.
