Vice Admiral Ian Donald George MacDougall AC, AFSM Royal Australian Navy

Joined RANC as 15 year old in 1954. Trained with RN and awarded Queen's Telescope at BRNC. Specialised as Supply Officer but gained BWC and transferred to submarines with start of RAN force. Commanded HMS OTTER and HMAS ONSLOW. Promoted Commander and first OIC RAN SCTT 1973-76. XO and CO HMAS HOBART. Promoted Captain 1979. CO HMAS SUPPLY, Director Submarine Policy and Commander Australian Submarine Squadron. Commodore and DG Joint Operations and Plans 1986-87. Promoted Rear Admiral 1989 and served as Maritime Commander and DCNS before promotion to Vice Admiral as CNS 1991-94. After retirement Commissioner of NSW Fire Brigade and awarded Australian Fire Service Medal in 2000.
