Vice Admiral Peter Dunt CB DL Royal Navy
A Supply Officer who rose to be the Chief Naval Supply and Secretariat Officer (from 2000). Joined BRNC 1965, served in a variety of surface warships, including the frigates Arethusa (Midshipman), Charybdis (Captain's Secretary), Aurora (Supply Officer), then A/Sec to VCNS before becoming Secretary to Sandy Woodward, including during the Falklands War. Promoted Commander 1982, served in Invincible during her Far East deployment in 1983, promoted Captain 1988, Deputy Director Naval Staff Duties MoD (1988) and Sec to 2SL (1989-92). Captain HMS Raleigh, promoted Rear Admiral 1998, Chief of Staff to 2SL. Final appointment was as Chief Executive of the Defence Estates Agency, retiring from the Service in 2007. He subsequently chaired the Royal Surrey County Hospital NHS Trust. For many he would be best known as a cricketer and squash player of some considerable repute (along with his brother (Vice Admiral Sir John Dunt). Full obituary in The Times for 17 December 2020
