By the Editor – Grand strategic shocks require responses that take us beyond what was considered to be hitherto the norm. This article argues that change in our mindset is needed, post Brexit, if the UK is to best pursue its (and similarly aligned maritime nations’) diplomatic, commercial and security strategic interests, in the Indo-Pacific sphere, in an era where US ‘America First’ policies do not augur well for traditional alliance loyalty.
