The last issue of the NR focused on ‘Global Britain’ and particularly our return to the Asia Pacific Region. I am reminded that several happy years of my youth were spent in what was then referred to as ‘The Far East’. Sadly, opportunities for the current generation to experience this exciting and vibrant part of the world have, to date, been scarce. Let us hope that this is about to change. Fortunately, we still have some good contacts in the region, many of whom could join us in a Venn diagram encompassing The Commonwealth, ASEAN and the Five Power Defence Arrangements.
