By the Editor: We live in an age where everything is ‘on tap’ – security, comparative wealth and all-encompassing welfare. Back 200 years there was a toughness in people that routinely delivered results against the odds with no fanfare or recognition (and certainly no celebrity for its own sake). Are we now all ‘snowflakes’, to use the modern vernacular? Have we lost the hunger and ambition to win or are we too willing to complain about our easy lot and let others take the running in the world? Our current prosperity was built on hard times – are we in the process of casually throwing it away?…
