By the Editor – As the author highlights, and totally in agreement with advocates of nuclear deterrence in this journal, the aspiration of all is to ultimately eliminate nuclear weapons. Putin’s War has posed a ‘question four’ moment as the West has been caught flatfooted without a counter-deterrence policy (as highlighted earlier in this edition by Jeremy Blackham). The problem remains that unilateral disarmament does not necessarily resolve the problem (see the earlier Benjamin Franklin quote).
