Sir, – There’s one dimension in Cdr Mike Dalzell’s analysis of our ‘grey zone threats’ in the last issue [113/2, p. 184] which needs further comment and that’s about the UK’s sources of energy. There is not the slightest chance that Ed Milliband’s plans to increase offshore wind to 50 gw by 2030 will come to pass. Oersted Energy has just withdrawn from the Hornsea 4 project in line with a worldwide downturn in this over-expensive, inadequate and erratic energy source.
