Sir, – With one short threatening sentence the Kremlin has exposed British global reach for the sham it is – gesture politics backed up with a broken reed. The Government can no longer order the commanding officer of one of our warships to enter the disputed waters off the Crimea without risking a maritime Charge of the Light Brigade.
