Sir, – A conversation with a young, newly married, submarine relative who, fearful of the high rate of divorce in The Trade, has opted to return to GS, and a second one with a granddaughter whose friend’s outward going, positive personality has changed to one of moroseness and negativity since he joined an SSBN, has prompted this letter. I am deeply concerned by these reports – and numerous others likewise from within my old branch – of low morale and people opting out due to the excessive sea time caused by too few boats to fulfil the tasks expected.
