The surprise discovery of a diary in 2015 prompts an investigation into the Nationalist Chinese naval officers who, through an Anglo-Chinese training scheme, became participants in Operation NEPTUNE. A 20 minute read.

Early in 2024 I was contacted by two young Hong Kong researchers, Angus Hui and John Mak, who were seeking some UK and RN assistance with a fascinating and developing research project they were undertaking. In essence, the discovery of an old diary in an about to be demolished block of flats in Hong Kong had revealed the secondment of 24 Chinese naval officers to the RN in 1943 and the involvement of many of them in ships supporting the D-Day landings.
