In the Russo-Ukraine War, the West has been guided by a political narrative – and is losing. Russia has been guided by a military strategy – and is winning. As the West’s defeat on Ukraine’s bloody battlefield looms, the Western narrative’s dominance is a political problem. Less so for a US administration mandated to end ‘forever wars’. More so for European leaders. Acutely so for NATO and the EU, both determined to keep the war going – notwithstanding the catastrophic consequences for the press-ganged flower of Ukraine’s youth and each institutions’ credibility.
