Sir, – Recent correspondence on the AIB [114/2, pg. 305] has stirred memories of my own AIB just before Easter 1964. The main recollections concern interviews with the psychologist. Another candidate was the son of a Commander RNR. He exuded oodles of self-confidence. This gradually evaporated after his interview with the psychologist which he claimed was both “short and easy.” As he sat in the waiting room before the next phase of the process, realisation dawned on him and he was strangely subdued for the rest of his time at the AIB.
