Sir, – Having been reminded in the recent edition of The Naval Review that it was 50 years ago that the Far East Fleet was disbanded, I wonder whether anyone ‘out there’ knows what happened to the ‘Yokohama Bowl’. In 1956, I was Senior Midshipman in the good ship Albion when we went on a cruise to the Far East and, on arriving in Singapore, I was visited by the existing Senior Midshipman in the Far East Fleet and was handed a wooden casket containing this splendid object for custody whilst we were to be in the Far East.
