Taking stock of current challenges, with an eye to the strategic decisions made during the Cold War, the author argues that future RN thought leaders must be cultivated today. A 10 minute read.

The Royal Navy faces a unique mix of problems. Its triple challenge is to challenge Russia in our own part of the world, be able to project power further afield, and persuade politicians to pay for it all. At the same time it faces rapid technological change demanding new equipment while old ships must be run on and problems of both recruitment and retention.
