Contemplating the nature of delegation and calculated risk, the author continues his study of the leadership style of Admiral Chester Nimitz during the Pacific War [111/4, p. 95]. A 25 minute read.

Chester W Nimitz faced a gigantic task when he became Commander-in-Chief, Pacific Command (CINCPAC) in December, 1941. One of the most important tools that Nimitz used to effectively lead his command was delegation – of which he was a master. It was something he had practiced throughout his commands, and had been the subject of his 1923 Naval War College student thesis.
