Future Navy Vision 2025… so how did we do?

As we knock on the door of 2025 and craft the arguments for the SDR of 2025, here is 1SL’s document from 2010/11 setting out the RN’s vision for 2025. It is a very interesting exercise to see firstly whether the language holds true and how events of the last 15 years have underlined the importance of Maritime Power or not, where we have reached in delivering the capabilities suggested, and whilst no vision, or indeed plan, ‘survives contact with the enemy’ what lessons are to be learned in terms of ensuring greater success in arguing for and then delivering future visions?
