Our correspondent replies to another of Cdre Jermy’s recent articles [112/1, p. 21], with regard to the geopolitical and diplomatic conditions surrounding the origins of the Russo-Ukraine War.

Sir, – In his article of 23 January 2024 Cdre Jermy asked that we do not consider him “a Putin-stooge.”[1] It is difficult, however, to think otherwise based on his latest submission.[2] This is not playing the man rather than the ball, but noting his arguments come from an increasingly critical analysis of one side against blind acceptance of the other. Other contributors have already addressed Jermy’s central themes, specifically his belief that those nations bordering Russia could, or should, lack agency to choose their own destiny.[3] His latest article, however, is more disturbing.…
