Two letters responding to recent RN developments and advocating for reform.

Sir, – Even with acknowledgments of the Royal Navy’s readiness and strength before 1939 and through the post–World War II era, has anyone had to declare that on or around March 5, 2026, Britain had not only failed the definition of being a seapower – but also a maritime nation and naval power? This represents the first such assessment since the founding of the Naval Service. British weakness is being seen around the world. The world has lost respect for Britain and our relationship with the US and our Allies is in question. Weakness and indecision are an open invitation to enemies…
