In our fourth article from BRNC’s Pellew Division, the author provides an overview of British airship development during the First World War, a demonstration of RN initiative and technological adaptation. A 10 minute read.

At the turn of the 20th century, Britain was at the height of its power, and since the Industrial Revolution, Britain paced to be one step ahead of its rivals at all times. The world of naval warfare was at a point of great upheaval, developments in submarine and battleship technology left much of the British fleet obsolete. With the Royal Navy as the mainstay of the Empire, British planners sought new technologies to ensure Britain’s edge over Germany, France and the United States.
