By the Editor: Speaking truth unto power and fomenting thorough debate is central to the NR’s purpose. In a commendably challenging, hard hitting and highly personal article the author also rises to RAdm Lane-Nott’s challenge in the Review’s last edition (NR107/2): “If you don’t agree say so!” In it the writer questions the ethics, efficacy, efficiency and expense of CASD, which he compares to the strongly held beliefs of many sects that hold to truths that are not self-evident.
