By the Editor – Born from the costly failure of an earlier attempt (Op JULIUS in June 1942) 80 years ago this year a four-day battle to deliver vital supplies to Malta in August 1942 was of such significance, not only in its achievements but in the united endeavours of the Royal and Merchant Navy personnel that took part. The author rightly opines that Op PEDESTAL deserves to be celebrated and remembered annually.
