Putin’s invasion of Ukraine shattered the status quo in Europe. The states of Finland and Sweden were now faced with the possibility of war with their much larger and seemingly rogue neighbour. For many Finns, stories of their valiant resistance in the Winter War of 1940 would have been told from the mouths of the people who had endured and experienced it.
